1. Trump unhappy with deal but doesn't expect shutdown

President Trump on Tuesday said he was "not happy" about the tentative deal lawmakers negotiated to avoid another government shutdown. While sources reportedly told CNN Trump intends to sign the deal, Trump himself only said, "I don't think you're going to see a shutdown." The deal includes $1.375 billion for new fencing on the Mexican border, far less than the $5.7 billion Trump demanded for a wall, which led to the impasse behind the shutdown in December. Trump said he already was "using other methods" to build border barriers. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he had urged Trump to back the compromise. "I hope he'll sign it," McConnell said. "I think he got a pretty good deal."
