Wine: Yes we can!
Canned wines are starting to pop—and why shouldn’t they? said Ray Isle in Food & Wine. They’re portable, easy to chill, and environmentally friendly. I recently sampled dozens, and yes, some wines were weird. The best, however, were “delightful”—full of flavor and no different from what you’d find in bottles.
NV House Wine Rosé ($6). “Fruity and delicately sweet,” this bright rosé is built to be drunk ice cold while floating on an inflatable pool raft.
2016 Ferdinand California Albariño ($9). In its bottled form, this “citrusy” Napa Valley Albariño has deservedly developed a cult following.
2014 Alloy Wine Works Central Coast Pinot Noir ($30 for 4 cans). This is an impressive pinot—“full of ripe cherry flavors, with a hint of rhubarb.” Bonus: Each tall-boy can will fill about three glasses. ■
