The Vietnam War
Filmmaker Ken Burns, who’s been illuminating key facets of U.S. history for 40 years, has finally completed his epic study of the war that arguably still divides the country today. Burns’ new 10-part documentary, set to run through Sept. 28, offers a sweeping view of the U.S. military intervention in Vietnam, using the voices of roughly 80 witnesses— including former GIs, ex-Vietcong, and onetime protesters— to illuminate all sides. But first: a look at how a century of French rule set the stage for Vietnam’s nightmare decade. Sunday, Sept. 17, at 8 p.m., PBS; check local listings ■
