The Long Road Home
April 4, 2004, was a catastrophic day for the U.S. Army’s First Cavalry Division. A routine patrol in Baghdad’s Sadr City came under unexpected attack from Muqtada al-Sadr’s Mahdi Army, and a battle ensued. At the end of fighting, eight Americans were dead, more than 70 wounded, and the U.S. mission in Iraq was about to shift from peacekeeping to fighting an insurgency. Martha Raddatz’s best-seller about the conflict’s turning point has now inspired a powerful every-angle dramatization. Jason Ritter, Kate Bosworth, and Michael Kelly co-star.
