New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo won Thursday's Democratic primary, defeating Cynthia Nixon.

With 41 percent of precincts reporting, Cuomo has 65.9 percent of the vote, compared to Nixon with 34.1 percent. An actress and progressive activist, Nixon ran to the left of Cuomo, and pushed for universal rent control while criticizing Cuomo for not doing enough to fix the crumbling New York City subway system.
